Last year at TED I had the great fortune of witnessing the following talk:
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/handpring_puppet_co_the_genius_puppetry_behind_war_horse.html
It’s about a South African puppet company which crafted puppets for the play War Horse. The two creators showed how the horse puppet evolved, and I was amazed at how realistic the horse looked. I recently went to see the actual play at the Lincoln Center in New York and I have to say that it was unbelievable. Absolute magic. Normally I’m not a big musical theater person but I would recommend this play just for the sheer artistry of the performance.
