Acorn Alley by Robert Kunz

In the mid-1950s, renowned educator Lloyd Dennis and my late uncle, illustrator Robert Kunz came up with an idea for a novelty news page for children. Entitled “The Children’s Corner,” it went on to be published weekly for the next six years in The Toronto Telegram, beginning March 17, 1957.
Of all the golden dust that found its way into “The Children’s Corner,” Acorn Alley took centre stage. Its cast of characters worked their way into the hearts of both readers and author alike, and over time, Mayor Rob Rabbitt and the citizens from Acorn Alley became a family whose adventures were eagerly anticipated in every home that opened its doors to The Toronto Telegram.
Now, fifty years after those first readers found joy down the lanes of Acorn Alley, you are invited to travel down the same paths in this first volume of chronologically ordered tales from 1957 to 1959. The original writer is still here to wager that you will come away “tickled pink,” as Foxy Fox would say!
I’m very please that this part of Canadiana has been republished so that new generations can know about these charming stories.
