An Object of Beauty

I’m somewhat baffled by the workings of the fine art world, particularly the New York Chelsea scene. Steve Martin has written a really great book called An Object of Beauty, a piece of fiction that chronicles the rise of a young woman through the ranks of various NY auction houses, galleries and museums. It contains some searing insights into the scene, and is a wonderfully written book. I devoured it in a day. Highly recommended!
