It’s been a very busy summer. First of all, two weeks in Turkey, judging the Dogan international cartoon competition and then teaching a workshop as a guest of Zaman newspaper. The students were wonderful and interesting and I made many new friends! More recently we got to spend some time with Ralph Steadman and his wonderful wife Anna and daughter Sadie. Ralph was in Toronto at the Toronto International Film Festival for the release of the documentary about his life and work “For no Good Reason”. We met a number of times, and had a wonderful time!
Please see: http://www.fornogoodreasonmovie.com/
I also got to meet director Charlie Paul and his producer wife Lucy, and Anita Thompson (wife of Hunter)!!

I had a wonderful time in Istanbul last week. It was an incredible time to be there…the protests were going on all around us (the tear gas was only used in Taksim) and it was extraordinary to witness how the grass roots protests were growing. I was one of the judges of The Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition. Shown here are 4 of the 10 judges…me, The New Yorker Magazine cartoon editor Bob Mankoff, the great Ralph Steadman and Adolf Born, legendary Czech artist. It was my third time as a judge. Many thanks to the wonderful Candan Fetvaci CEO of the competition
